PhD Opportunities in Dairy

Over 25 PhD students form a community that have access to large-scale projects, diverse science teams, and modern facilities. Each project has a direct link to industry in terms of its subject matter as well as personal connections through mentoring and participation in industry events.

The brightest part of our innovation pipeline are the talented people working on DairyBio and DairyFeedbase projects and we are fortunate to have world-renowned Agriculture Victoria researchers as our program and project leaders. The joint venture partners know that to keep at the cutting edge of innovation we need to attract, nurture and retain the next generation of leading dairy researchers so we developed the PhD program.

The DairyBio and DairyFeedbase PhD program aims to provide early career researchers – people who have usually graduated from Master studies and are looking to pursue PhD candidature – with meaningful research projects complemented by professional development opportunities.

The PhD research fellowships are part of a new Centre for Agricultural Innovation (CAI). The CAI is a joint initiative between The University of Melbourne and Agriculture Victoria. PhD research fellowships will be based at the following locations:

  •  Ellinbank Research Centre and SmartFarm Ellinbank, Victoria

Successful applicants must meet Australian university entry requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy degree and must currently be in Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions.
